Course overview
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most globally recognized scuba certification. Designed for beginners, this course transforms you into a confident diver through a combination of dive theory, confined water training, and open water exploration. Unlike a simple “resort dive,” this certification qualifies you to dive independently with a buddy to a depth of 18 meters (60 feet) anywhere in the world.
What you’ll learn
By the end of this course, you will master the following essential dive skills:
Course Prerequisites
- 1Minimum age: 10 years old (Junior Open Water Diver)

Swim 200 meters/yards (no time limit) OR snorkel 300 meters/yards

Float or tread water for 10 minutes without assistance

Good physical health (completion of medical questionnaire required)
Course curriculum
Goal: Understand diving physics, physiology, and safety concepts.

Complete 5 knowledge development sections
Understand how pressure affects your body and equipment
Pass the Quizzes and Final Exam (75% passing score required)
Equipment Workshop
Hands-on learning of standard scuba gear
Pre-dive safety checks (BWRAF) practice
Understanding air management
Goal: Apply skills in confined water (pool) and then the open ocean.

Master regulator clearing and recovery
Practice emergency air sharing with a buddy
Learn proper weighting and trim
Open Water Certification Dives
Complete 4 open water dives (max 18m/60ft)
Demonstrate core skills to your instructor in a real environment
Log your dives and receive your PADI certification card
