Course Overview

The PADI Rescue Diver course is often described by divers as the most challenging, yet most rewarding course they’ve ever taken. Why? Because you learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well-being of other divers. With this combo package, you will also complete the **Emergency First Response (EFR)** training, which gives you the CPR and First Aid skills needed to save lives on land and at sea. This course builds your confidence as a diver and prepares you to handle potential problems before they become emergencies.

What you’ll learn

This course is “serious fun.” You will learn how to respond to real-life emergencies through role-playing scenarios. Key topics include:

  • Self-Rescue: How to get yourself out of trouble first

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We won’t lie—it is physically and mentally demanding. However, it is designed to be manageable and fun. The “scenarios” are safe, controlled simulations. Most students find it to be the biggest confidence booster of their diving career.

*Emergency First Response (EFR)* is a CPR and First Aid course. PADI requires all Rescue Divers to have valid CPR/First Aid training within the last 24 months. We include EFR in this package so you get certified in both diving rescue and land-based medical response at the same time.

Yes. Unlike the Advanced Open Water course, the Rescue Diver course has a final written exam. You will also have a final exam for the EFR portion. Don’t worry—the eLearning and your instructor will prepare you well for it!

Technically, you need to be an *Advanced Open Water Diver*. However, if you are an Open Water Diver who has completed the “Underwater Navigation” Adventure Dive, you may be eligible to enroll. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

The Rescue Diver + EFR combo typically takes *3 to 4 days* to complete. This includes one day for EFR/Theory and 2-3 days for confined and open water rescue exercises.
